Where is Feeding Our Kids packing bags?
All activities will be held at Eastern Illinois Foodbank, located at 2405 North Shore Drive in Urbana. Click here for a map! EIF is undergoing some construction in August so please use the map above to show where to park and enter. Come to the main entrance on the South side and you will be escorted to the volunteer center.
What day and time can I volunteer?
All packing activities will happen on Monday afternoons and evenings. Click here to sign up.
How do I sign up?
Volunteers can sign up through signup.com for specific times. If you are unable to sign up or can’t access the information please email us at info@feedingourkids.org or text 2193706070. Click here to sign up!
How do I sign up a group?
Groups will also be volunteering on Monday’s. We ask that you contact us at info@feedingourkids.org before you sign up so we can make sure we can accommodate the number of group members.
What ages can volunteer?
We welcome volunteers ages 5 and older! Middle school & high school aged children can volunteer without a parent if this current permission slip and medical release form has been filled out and returned to Feeding Our Kids. It may be brought with on the first day of volunteering.
What will volunteers be doing?
Volunteers will be packing bags of food to be sent to local schools. Volunteers will be standing and walking. If you’re unable to do that, please reach out to us, and we may be able to assign you a different task. The warehouse is not air conditioned but there is a volunteer breakroom and water available as needed.
Where will the food go?
The food will go to schools in Champaign County. We partner with over 40 schools to provide food to children in our community.
What if I am picking up bins for delivery?
Delivery drivers will be sent specific instructions for picking up bins depending on the day and time you pick up. There will be 2 pickup points at EIF.
I want to bring young children? What else should I know?
Children 5 and up are welcome with a parent. Parents are the best judge of determining if their child will have the ability to walk around tables and put food into bags. This area is larger than our previous locations. If your child needs a break please let us know. There is a volunteer breakroom available on site.
