Who We Are Wednesday: Jody Hanger

Jody Hanger is our volunteer. Here’s some more information about Jody.

Q: How did you first become involved with FOK and why do you continue to be involved?

A: I know Ann Kirkland (one of the founders) because our kids are similar ages, had similar interests, and because we are both alumni Westview Elementary School families. FOK is headquartered at the Champaign Church of Christ two doors down from my house – I can’t not volunteer! I am a school district employee, and am so happy to help struggling kids and families even just a little bit.

Q: What do you do outside of Feeding Our Kids?

A: I just started my 15th year at Westview as the library clerk – it’s my dream job! I am married and have two grown children (both proud products of the Champaign Public Schools). I attend the Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana-Champaign where I sing in the choir (not in person right now) and am on the Board of Trustees there.

Q: Tell us something unique about yourself (hobbies, fun facts, talents, etc.)

A: Two new hobbies have popped up during the last several months – bread making (yes, sourdough) and frisbee golf. I also enjoy reading, crossword puzzles, hiking, and trying out new recipes.
