Who We Are Wednesday: Mary Beth

Mary Beth is one of our volunteers and here’s her story with Feeding Our Kids.

Q: How did you first become involved with FOK and why do you continue to be involved?

A: I read in the paper that FOK was looking for volunteers so I signed up. I have been volunteering now for two years. My husband is now volunteering with FOK also. Everyone involved is so nice to work with. As a former teacher I have seen how food insecurity affects our students and their performance in school. I am happy to able to have a part in making sure they have healthy food that they can count on getting regularly.

Q: What do you do outside of Feeding Our Kids?

A: I have 4 children, 3 grandchildren, and an old house that keep me busy. I have also been sewing masks and gowns for a local hospital in need of PPE for their staff.

Q: Tell us something unique about yourself (hobbies, fun facts, talents, etc.)

A: I enjoy reading, knitting, sewing, needlework and gardening.
