Who We Are Wednesday: Laurie Larson

Laurie Larson is one of our new board members.

Q: How did you first become involved with FOK and why do you continue to be involved?

A: Started with FOK by delivering bins to schools and helping occasionally with sorts. Now participate doing home deliveries, acting as a sort captain and just joined the Board of Directors. I really appreciate that FOK fills a need in the community on a very personal and basic level. I also love that the organization invites all ages to volunteer making it a great way to get kids involved.

Q: What do you do outside of Feeding Our Kids? (Job, family, organizations, etc.)

A: My husband and I have 4 children. I worked previously as a process engineer but since moving to Champaign manage the house and the family schedules. I am a long term volunteer at the elementary school and am involved in the PTA organizations at the kids schools.

Q: Tell us something unique about yourself (hobbies, fun facts, talents, etc.)

A: I grew up in Minnesota and lived for a while in Oklahoma and Denver before Champaign. As a family we enjoy traveling, camping, hiking, and skiing. I also enjoy baking for family and friends, sewing, scrapbooking and cheering on Illini Volleyball.
