Who We Are Wednesday: Steve Essex

August 19, 2020

In July, Steve was elected as the new president of the Feeding Our Kids Board President.  Here’s some more information about Steve.

Q: How did you first become involved with FOK and why do you continue to be involved?

A: I became involved initially through the Champaign Church of Christ, I joined the board and am still involved today because I feel deeply moved to do what I can to help fight food insecurity. Coming from a home that relied on free meals at school myself, I want to do whatever I can to help combat food insecurity.

Q:  What do you do outside of Feeding Our Kids?

A:  I am a network engineer at Busey Bank, a new husband, and a member of the Champaign Church of Christ.

Q: Tell us something unique about yourself (hobbies, fun facts, talents, etc.)
A:  I have a lot of hobbies that range from video games, to playing multiple instruments, to building things. Mostly I’m pretty into technology and I find myself lucky to have realized that maybe that’s a good thing to build a career around.
