Summer Curry is our Board Treasurer and here is her story with FOK.
Q: How did you first become involved with FOK and why do you continue to be involved?
A: I first became involved with FOK through volunteering at one of the food sorts. I participated in quite a few of them. In 2019, an email was sent asking for volunteer help in other areas. I emailed the then president letting her know that I was interesting in volunteering. This work entailed doing monthly account reconciliation. From there, I became the Board Treasurer. I continue to work with FOK because I do like offering my skills and I like that I’m helping with a cause that is helping our community.
Q: What do you do outside of Feeding Our Kids?
A: Outside of FOK, I am a full-time parent to a teen. We like to travel, especially to Disney World. When things were different (no pandemic) for us, I was often supporting my kid with her extra-curricular activities. Aside from parenting, I spend time with friends and other family members. I work as an HR Coordinator in the Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois.
Q: Tell us something unique about yourself (hobbies, fun facts, talents, etc.)
A: I also work in website design and development.
